Patterson is an education policy analyst and consultant. She also serves as the Visiting Research Fellow in the Center for Education Policy at the Texas Public Policy Foundation, where she was formerly employed as the Foundation's Director of Research and the Director of Education Policy. Her analyses, research reports, and commentaries are published by the Texas Public Policy Foundation and other state and national entities. Before moving to Texas, Patterson was the Executive Director of the Regional Action Phone, a crisis intervention and suicide prevention hotline in western New York. She holds a bachelor's degree in psychology and labor relations certification from the Cornell University School of Management Studies.
