At-Risk Students and the Transition to High School: Texas' Efforts to Support Ninth Grade Success March 2002PDF (1 MB)
Implemented in 1999, the Texas's Ninth Grade Success Initiative (NGSI) provided resources to support district programs designed to improve academic outcomes for at-risk ninth-grade students. This evaluation of NGSI relies on information collected through analyses of proposals, district-submitted data, and site visit data and the analysis discusses a broad range of topics, including challenges for ninth graders, program activities, successes and challenges in program implementation, and recommendations to policymakers.
